The half skeleton consists of 18 sections comprising of the following -
1. Skull in Three sections; 1/1 superior aspect of skull, 1/2 medial aspect of skull, and 1/3 mandible. [The superior and medial aspects fasten with a hook and screw, the mandible fastens to the hard palate by a wire linking both together.]
2. Hyoid.
3. Clavicle.
4. Scapula.
5. Humerus.
6. Radius.
7. Ulna.
8. One articulated hand comprising Eight Carpals [ 8/1 Scaphoid, 8/2 Lunate, 8/3 Triquetrum, 8/4 Pisiform, 8/5 Hamate, 8/6 Capitate, 8/7 Trapezoid, 8/8 Trapezium], Five metacarpals [8/9-8/13], Fourteen Phalanges [8/14-8/18 proximal, 8/19-8/22 middle, 8/23-8/27 distal].
9. Sternum and Costal cartilage.
10. Twelve ribs [10/1-10/12].
11. Twenty four Vertebrae [C1-C7 cervical, T1-T12 thoracic, L1-L5 lumbar].
12. Sacrum and Coccyx.
13. Left Pelvic bone.
14. Femur.
15. Tibia.
16. Fibula.
17. Patella.
18. One articulated foot comprising seven Tarsals [18/1 Calcaneus, 18/2 Talus, 18/3 Cuboid, 18/4 Navicular, 18/5 Lateral Cuneiform, 18/6 Intermediate Cuneiform, 18/7 Medial Cuneiform], Five Metatarsals [18/8-18/12], Fourteen Phalanges [18/13-18/26].
Each piece of the skeleton has been numbered within its section. Allows easy examination of each bone for identification of anatomical landmarks.
