Adding Library resources in Summon directly into your reading list (this works for books, ebooks, journal articles, whole journals, reports, and other sources found in Summon):
- Hover your mouse over your reading list where you want to add the resource, and click on Add Resource.
- This will give you a search box in which you can type the author, title or ISBN-13 of the source.
- You will see a list of search results; click on Add to List for the right one.
- Now the source is in your list it is vital to set the Importance of the item - Core, Recommended or Further Reading - as this determines how many print copies of a book the Library will buy.
Adding books using the bookmarking extension:
- Open a new window in Chrome. Go to https://catalogue.brad.ac.uk/ . Use the Title search (left-hand dropdown) to look for the book you want;
- Click through to the item you want. For books, default to the ebook if available (this improves accessibility);
- Click on the Permanent Link on the right of the screen;
- Click on the bookmarking tool.
- A new window will open with details of the resource.
- Click on the button “Create and add to list” and complete the boxes in the new window which pops up. It is vital to set the Importance of the item - Core, Recommended or Further Reading - as this determines how many print copies of a book the library will buy).
- Click OK to return to your list.
If the book you want is not available in the catalogue or Summon, you can add it to your list from Amazon.co.uk.
- Open a new window in Chrome. Go to https://www.amazon.co.uk .
- Search for the book and click on the title to display more information.
- Click on the bookmarking extension.
- Click on the button “Create and add to list” and complete the boxes in the new window which pops up. Put “Please buy” in the Note for the Library box.
- Set the importance and click OK.
